Does the check-in app work on Android? What about a flip phone?
Android, yes. Hammock365 is on Google Play, it needs Android 8.0 or newer, and the daily check-in is free. A flip phone, no. Hammock365 runs on iPhone, Android and web browsers, so a phone that cannot open a web link and sign in cannot run it. For a parent on a flip phone or a landline, a daily call program usually fits better.

Android, in plain terms
- It is a real Android app on Google Play, not a stripped-down version of the iPhone one. Same check-in, same buttons, same family group.
- It needs Android 8.0 or newer.
- The free plan is the same on Android as everywhere else. No card to sign up.
- Your parent does not have to install anything. You text her a link, it opens in her browser, and her I'm Okay button is waiting.
- Install the app anyway if you want things to pop up on her phone. With the app and notifications allowed, her medication reminders and your nudges appear on her screen. In a browser nothing pops up; her due medicines show when she opens the page.
Mixing phones is normal. Mom on Android and you on an iPhone is the most common setup we see, and everyone shares one family group.

Why a flip phone does not work
The check-in is a screen with a big button on it. Your parent has to open a link, sign in once, and tap the button each day. A basic flip phone has no browser that can do that, and there is no Hammock365 app for one.
We are not going to tell you a flip phone might work if you fiddle with it. It does not, and the cost of being wrong here is a morning you think she checked in and she did not.
What to do instead if she will not give up her flip phone
- Put a tablet on the kitchen table. This is the fix most families land on. An inexpensive tablet on the home Wi-Fi, left on the counter or by her chair, runs the check-in fine. She never has to carry it and never has to change phones.
- Use an old smartphone. A hand-me-down phone on Wi-Fi only, with no cell plan at all, still runs the check-in at home.
- Look at a daily call program. Some sheriffs' offices and Area Agencies on Aging call older residents every day at no cost. See free daily check-in calls for seniors.
- Look at a medical alert pendant. If the real worry is a fall with no way to reach a phone, that is the tool built for it, and it does not need a smartphone.
The honest limits
Hammock365 is not an emergency service. It texts family; it does not call 911 and there is no call center. Alert texts go to United States phone numbers. If it is an emergency, call 911.
