Should I track my elderly parent's phone location?
Only if she agrees, and only if location is what you actually need. Location sharing is built into iPhones and Google Maps. But a dot on a map tells you where her phone is, not whether she is okay. Ask her first, never track her in secret, and think about a daily sign that she is okay instead.

If she is on the floor in her kitchen, the map shows her phone at home. That looks normal.
Ask first, never in secret
Tracking an adult without her knowing can break trust fast, and she may find out. Is it okay to track your mom's phone? Only with her yes. Ask her, explain why, and let her say no. Offer to share your location with her too, if she wants.
Free ways, if she agrees
There is nothing to buy. The tools are already on her phone.

When location really matters
If she has memory loss and may wander or get lost, a phone she might leave behind is not enough. Neither is a daily check-in. Talk with her doctor about tools built for that.
